Flickering flame
Occurs when there is air trapped in either the wick or the wax.
- Avoid letting any water come into contact with your wax
- Keep a lit candle away from open drafts
- Trim your wick to 1/2 cm and trim every time you relight your candle
Scent throw
How can I achieve a good scent throw?
- Place a lid on your candles and store them away from excessive heat and light
Mushrooming
A build up of carbon on the wick.
- Trim the black cap of the wick and straighten the wick as normal
- Always trim the mushroom off the wick before relighting. If you don’t, the wick may spit wax and the flame will be too high which may pose a fire risk
Sinkholes / Dipped surface
Wax naturally expands when heated and shrinks when cools which can cause dips and sinkage.
- Normal and unavoidable due to the wax's natural properties
Smoking flame
Where the candle is placed whilst burning will affect how it burns overall (smoke can be emitted if there is a draught).
- Keep the wick trimmed to 0.5cm
